Dr. Dat Tran is originally from Montreal where he studied biochemical engineering at Polytechnique Montréal.
In 2011, he obtained his DMD from the University of Montreal. During internships with the Canadian Immunization Research Network and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, he researched stem cells and biomedical heart valves.
He is licensed by the Alberta Dental Association and College to provide Conscious IV Sedation at Northern Hills Dental.
He strongly believes in helping his patients preserve their natural teeth and offers solutions to reduce their anxiety about dental procedures.
He also believes that creativity in dentistry is a crucial, and often under-valued, skill set. This is why he appreciates the important role that dental photography holds when connecting with his patients. Dr. Tran believes portrait photography helps him establish a strong connection with his patients, allowing him to capture that person’s best and to reveal that moment on a piece of paper. He feels passionately about photography as he believes it helps him become a better dental provider every single day.
A proud Calgarian, Dr. Tran believes in giving back to the community by volunteering at Calgary Urban Project Society (CUPS) and on mission trips, most recently to a rural community in Northern Vietnam. Both these volunteer experiences have really opened up his mind and heart.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Tran loves learning new languages and enjoys skiing in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. He also continually strives to learn new things and enjoys sharing what he’s learned with his patients.
